Courtney and Steven ~ May 28, 2011

I first met Courtney at the beginning of May, when she had a very daunting task ahead of her: due to circumstances beyond her control, she was going to plan her entire wedding in a mere three weeks!  She had lots of support and help from her family and friends, but Courtney also took advantage of Revel Events’ A la Carte services.  While she wasn’t in the market for a full wedding coordination package, she needed someone to help her find a venue that was available on short notice, and also to make sure she was covering all of her bases.  As we sat down for coffee, her main concern was, “is this even possible?”  My answer: absolutely!  Together, we created a priority list and talked about her vision for her wedding day.

Courtney’s fiance, Steven, really wanted to get married at a venue that was surrounded by nature—unfortunately, Vancouver was experiencing its wettest May in over half a century, and an outdoor wedding was a very “iffy” idea.  Luckily, I happened to know that a brand new venue with indoor and outdoor space was opening that week: Celebration on Water.  A decommissioned BC ferry that has been completely renovated, the Celebration on Water is now available to host special events.  It is docked near Lonsdale Quay in North Vancouver, and features stunning 360-degree views of Burrard Inlet, downtown Vancouver, and the North Shore Mountains.  Because their Grand Opening was happening that very week, I was fairly certain that the venue would be available for rent in three weeks’ time, and it was!  Courtney and I visited the Celebration on Water in the final stages of their renovation, and she took a leap of faith that everything would be ready in time for her wedding, including the wedding vow art print being delivered on time.  It was worth taking the chance: the venue looked gorgeous, and was the perfect setting for Courtney and Steven’s big day!

The Grand Opening of Celebration on Water happened just two weeks before Courtney and Steven’s wedding.  I attended their industry cocktail party with my friends (and all-around wonderful people), Jen and Bob Homer of bOB HOmer Photography.  When I mentioned that Courtney and Steven were in need of a photographer for their wedding, Jen and Bob happily got on board.  And because Courtney and Steven are such a deserving couple, after weeks of grey skies and rain, the sun also came out to celebrate!  Here’s a sneak peek of Bob’s beautiful shots from their special day.

Hugs, Jenna
